Blood pressure testing in-store

Blood pressure testing in-store

If you are concerned about your heart and blood pressure then it is wise to get some measurement done.
We also sell blood pressure measurement meters in-store.

Blood pressure meterThe test
The test is gentle. Your arm is wrapped in a band, which expands and contracts as it measures your blood pressure range. The results are shown on a meter.

The results
Blood pressure is typically recorded as two numbers, written as a ratio like this: 120/76. The units are, for historical reasons, mm of mercury. It is said as "120 over 76".

  • The top number, the higher of the two numbers, is the Systolic, which measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats (when the heart muscle contracts).
  • The bottom number, the Diastolic, measures the pressure in the arteries between heartbeats (when the heart muscle is resting between beats and refilling with blood).

Your blood pressure rises with each heartbeat and falls when your heart relaxes between beats. While BP can change from minute to minute with changes in posture, exercise, stress or sleep, it should normally be less than 120/80 mm Hg (less than 120 systolic AND less than 80 diastolic) for an adult age 20 or over.

What is the AHA recommendation for healthy blood pressure?
