Probiotics are live microorganisms which, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host [1].
Flora Restore™ is the first ever documented oral probiotic for women's health.
The two strains, Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 are both isolated from healthy women. These "friendly" bacteria have been selected based upon their unique clinical properties which have been validated in numerous studies.
When taken orally, GR-1 and RC-14 are able to colonize the vagina to help maintain and restore a healthy vaginal flora [2-6]. Each strain of Lactobacillus in Flora Restore™ has distinctive properties and when combined provide a synergistic benefit for vaginal health.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 produces bacteriocin-like compounds, and is able to resist spermicidal killing.
Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 produces hydrogen peroxide which helps protect the vagina. The unique encapsulation technology allows both strains to survive passage through the GI tract. From there, the organisms' transverse the anal-perineal skin, then enter and colonize the vagina.
Taking Flora Restore™ daily helps maintain or restore a healthy vaginal flora - thus supporting urogenital health [2].
