Compounded medications

Personal compounding

Picture
Compounding is when the pharmacist prepares a mix of ingredients and pharmaceuticals, in the exact dosage required, in a form suitable for you. We always work with you and the prescriber (usually your doctor) to ensure the compounded medication meets your specific needs.
These can be:
  • creating a medication mix with unusual dosages; or
  • combining multiple medications into a single dosage; or
  • creating the same dosage in a form easier to intake; or
  • developing an allergen-free formulation; or
  • improving the flavour of the medication.

The compounded medication may be finally formed into:
  • capsules; or
  • creams, gels, lotions, ointments; or
  • liquid solutions.

From ear drops (especially for 'swimmers ear'), specialised creams for specific conditions, for skin lotions, and more, we can do a lot.
One use is for those medications you can't swallow as solid tablets, we can make up a liquid formulation.
Just ask what we can do for you.

Vet compounding for pets and animals

Picture
Tastes and textures of medications often matter to our pets and other animals in our care. Unsavory tastes and unpleasant textures may not suit their liking and eventually hinder them from taking their medications.
We can usually improve this. We can usually mix the medications needed, and make them more palatable, as well as create suitable dosage formulations.
Just ask, we can usually make it up for you.
